Biography[]

Tremors[]

In Tremors, Walter was a well-aged if somewhat eccentric man having inherited the full Chang frugality and business sense. He owned a shop in Perfection where the residents would buy groceries & drinks from him. When Val, Earl & Rhonda confronted one of the Graboids & describe them to everyone what they are capable of, Walter claimed that since Perfection’s residents discovered the creatures, they should name them, an idea that Miguel and Melvin agreed too, though Val and Earl thought that naming them wasn't important. Shortly after Walter coined the term "Graboids", one of them suddenly appeared in the area and devored him whole, while his friends unsuccessfully attempted to save his life.

Tremors 2: Aftershocks[]

In Tremors 2: Aftershocks, when Kate asked who gave the Graboids their names, Earl stated that it was Walter who give them the name until he was eaten by one.

Tremors 3: Back To Perfection[]

In Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, Walter's niece, Jodi, is running his store. Walter was also mentioned a few times in the movie.

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins[]

In Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, Walter and Jodi's ancestors, Pyong Lien Chang, Lu Wan Chang and Fu Yien Chang, were seen operating the original Chang's Market in the year 1889.

Trivia[]

  • In the original script, he was intended to be a Vietnamese man named Pham Van, but this was changed when the late Victor Wong was cast for the part, who in addition to getting the name changed asked for the last name to be Chang. [1] [2]
