History[]
Tremors 5: Bloodlines[]
Johan Dreyer was a South African Wildlife Ministry agent. One day, he and a fellow wildlife tracker named Basson were investigating reports of "strange creatures" in the Cradle of Humankind. While taking a dump in the grass, Basson trips on a rock and falls into a hole, winding up in an underground cavern. Johan drops down a rope for Basson to grab in order to help him out, but while pulling him up, Basson is attacked by an Ass Blaster and eaten.
Later on, Dreyer and another agent, Erick Van Wyck, contact Burt Gummer, now a star in his own survivalist online series, and his new cameraman, Travis B. Welker, and employ them to help capture Ass-Blasters in South Africa. Burt befriends their pilot, Den Bravers, while flying to the area. When Burt's heavy weapons are seized owing to South African gun restrictions, Erick offers them a little collection of firearms he's gathered, despite Burt's complaints that the calibre is far too small to kill the monsters. The group set up camp at an animal shelter.
Meanwhile, two paleontologists celebrate after finding the fossilized remains of a Graboid at a dig, but they are attacked and eaten soon after. Johan and the rest of the group are called to investigate the scene, but when Burt sees the fossil that was discovered, he realizes that it is a different breed of Graboid.
While Johan and the group continued their mission, Travis took the opportunity to attend a local tribal dance with Nandi, a refuge worker. However, their peaceful gathering was disrupted when an Ass-Blaster attacked Thaba, another refuge worker, and carried him away. Burt quickly ordered the evacuation of the refuge and set out with Erick and Johan to confront the Ass-Blaster threat directly. They find the Ass-Blaster in a cave, and Burt kills the flying monster, which kills Dreyer in turn when it falls from the sky.
